About
The pomegranate is an iconic fall and winter fruit, recognizable by its hard, ruby-red rind and the thousands of jewel-like, edible seeds (arils) inside. The arils possess a tart-sweet flavor that is incredibly refreshing and are packed with antioxidants.
Pomegranate harvest typically runs from Late September – January. The fruit is durable and stores well, allowing it to be enjoyed throughout the holiday season.
When selecting a ripe pomegranate, choose one that is large, has a uniformly vibrant color, and feels heavy for its sizeāthis indicates a high juice content in the arils. The skin can be slightly bruised or marked, which does not affect the interior. The arils are used to top salads, yogurt, and desserts, mixed into beverages, or simply eaten with a spoon for a burst of flavor.
